The
Foundation of the Faculty
Following the decision no. 443/92 of the Assembly of the Islamic
Community of Kosova in 1992 the Faculty of Islamic Studies
was founded in Prishtina. Therefore, on December it started
with its activities.
The Faculty of Islamic studies is the highest educational and scientific
institution of the Islamic Community, which deals with
scientific researches, especially in the field of Islamic
studies in Kosova.
The offical name of the faculty is “Faculty of
Islamic Studies”
The Aims of the Faculty are:
- To ensure the conditions for University education in
Islamic sciences and in arabic language.
- Taking care for the well run of the process of educational
– Islamic studies.
- The preparation (education) of the new generation of
Religious Teachers and teachers of Arabic language with
university degree, who will be in the service of the Muslims
in Kosova, in the neighbouring states and in the world.
- The preparation of the Imams and Lectures who will be able
to provide high quality lectures and explanations of the
Islamic lessons.
- To make scientific researches in the Albanian speaking
Muslims.
The conditions for the enrolment in
the faculty:
The following are conditions for the enrolment in the
faculty:
- To have completed the High Islamic School “Alauddin” or
any other High Islamic School.
- For those who have completed different kinds of High
School Education, they will have to take an enrolment
examination.
- To know Albanian, since the lectures will be delivered
(held) in Albanian.
- To provide with a Medical certification, proving that the
candidate does not suffer from any contagious diseases.
- To have a good behaviour as well as good characteristics.
- The documents should be certified from certain Official
Institutions (Organs)
The Organisation of the studies:
The faculty has so far organised only University studies
but it has also planned to organise Post – Graduate studies
as well. The University studies last four academic
years-eight semesters for both full time and part time
students. After passing all the axams, the student has to
prepare the Diploma paper (work), which has to be defended
in front of a certain commission.
The Curricula:
The Curricula was prepared based mainly on the Curricula
of other Islamic faculties in different Universities around
the world. The following are the most important subjects:
Kur’ani and the sciences about it, the Islamic lam,
apologetics, hadithi, Islamic philosophy etc.
The students also learn foreign languages, besides Arabic
they learn English end Turkish.
Students do come frome different regions of the Balkan, like
Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Eaest Kosovo, Presheva
and Bujanovc.
The teaching Staff:
The Teaching staff is comprised of different proffesors,
who took their degrees and completed their post graduate
studies in Prishtina University and in the Islamic
University araund the world.
The Seat of the faculty:
The seat of the Faculty for Islamic studies is in the center
of Prishtina, which is the capital city of Kosova. The
building is old and has no student’s dormitories. The
project for a new building was prepared from the prominent
designing was prepared from the prominent designing’s
(projecting) company and the officials of the Islamic
Community are looking for an investor.
The successflu continuation of the work of the faculty
for Islamic studies in Prishtina is the best guaranty for
the future of the Muslims of Kosova as well as around it.
Taking into consideration all this, we think that the
aforementioned institution deserves moral support of all
relevant instution from within the country and from abroad.
